The Tsililis winery and distillery was founded in 1989 in the village of Raxa, near Trikala in Thessaly. The Tsililis family holds the distinction of being the first to standardise tsipouro with the EU-recognised geographical indication of Thessaly. In 1996, they established the Theopetra Estate — a model organic vineyard and winery dedicated to highlighting the unique character of the local terroir, reviving rare Greek varieties, and perpetuating local wine culture through a deep respect for the environment (Natura 2000 programme).
