Tentoura Castro (G.P. Hahalis Distillery) is one of Greece’s best-known and most traditional distilleries, tracing its roots to the fragrant island of Chios in the 19th century — renowned worldwide for its exclusive mastic production. The business relocated to the foothills of Patras Castle in 1939, and since 1993 has operated from a modern processing plant in the Romanos area near Patras, Peloponnese, chosen for its excellent water quality and ideal environmental conditions for ageing and storing extracts and distillates in oak barrels.
The preservation of traditional drink preparation methods — extraction and distillation — combined with modern bottling techniques has driven the company’s growth for over a century. Visitors taste traditional Greek spirits from 100% natural extracts and distillates, including beverages developed through scientific studies in cooperation with the Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Patras under two EU programmes (NSRF 2007-2013, NSRF 2014-2020).
