Kyklopas has been cultivating olive trees near Makri, Thrace, since 1950 — 70+ years of family olive cultivation in northern Greece. Located 10 km west of Alexandroupoli, the estate welcomes visitors to discover Kyklopas extra virgin olive oil and the full olive oil tasting experience.
The estate’s roadside flags will lead you to a large parking area suitable for both cars and coaches. Visitors enter an air-conditioned building where the olive oil extracting process is explained from start to finish — from the emptying of crates of olives to the filtered olive oil flowing out — including stainless-steel storage tanks, bottling facilities, and a short video on harvesting and extraction.
The tour ends outdoors, where visitors can take pictures under olive trees thousands of years old.
An olive oil tasting session follows with the full range of Kyklopas products: extra virgin olive oil, naturally-infused oils flavored with lemon, orange, garlic, chili, and basil, plus ground olives with fruits and herbs. Visitors learn how to use each type in cooking, enjoy the local olive variety by dipping warm bread into its olive paste, and finish with a homemade sweet based on olives.
