Dryas Greek Truffle was founded in 2008 in Macedonia, driven by a love for Greece’s natural heritage and the ancient history of truffles — known to the ancient Greeks as “Idnon,” believed to spring from Zeus’s lightning bolts.
After thorough research across parameters including altitude, flora, fauna, and soil conditions, the founders chose the slopes of Mount Pieria near the village of Polidendri (known until 1926 as Kokova) at 700 metres — just 25 km from Veria, in a region that produces significant quantities of the prized Tuber melanosporum truffle. Their mission: to spread truffle farming throughout Greece and reconnect the country with its ancient truffle heritage.
