Evonymon was founded in 2013 by Stavroula Rozou (PhD pharmacist) and Nicolas Krikelis (MSc chemist), with the aim to produce and market Greek products, including extra virgin olive oil and aromatic herbs of Greece.
The estate, Agros, is based in Varakes, Messinia (southern Peloponnese), a few km from Pylos and Methoni. It is open year-round for olive oil experiences — visiting the olive grove, the botanical garden with endemic aromatic herbs, a small wild orchid collection, and the private olive mill where award-winning extra virgin olive oil is cold-extracted.
Guests are welcomed with a cool or hot herbal infusion, fruit juice, and handmade cake. The olive mill tour covers the historical background of olive cultivation, olive oil production, and includes a close look at 19th-century olive millstones and the modern private mill.
An olive oil tasting session follows, where visitors learn to distinguish good olive oil, how to store and use it, and the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil. Depending on group size, tasting takes place in the garden or at the olive mill. Guests also explore the botanical garden to discover endemic plants and herbs of the Peloponnese region.
One lucky guest wins a prize in a knowledge quiz, and the visit concludes with local delicacies: olives, local cheese, lalaggia (local fried bread), small dakos with tomato and sfela cheese, pickled bulbs, and dried figs.
