Our journey begins at a beautiful “kafeneio” in the heart of the city, nestled in a small square adorned with a running fountain and orange trees. Here we indulge in an authentic Cretan breakfast — your choice of traditional Greek coffee or fresh juice — accompanied by a handmade cheese pie, “sfakianopita,” topped with homemade jam.
We then delve into the historical sites, traditions, customs, and the intricate connection between these elements and Cretan gastronomy. In a specially designed tasting room, guided by experts, you will sample and savour honey, olive oil, and raki, deepening your understanding of these culinary treasures central to the Cretan diet.
